Meet the Designer/Owner
Born & raised in Los Angeles, California, owner Cristina Colen's love of fashion began around the tender age of 6. Flipping through the pages of her mother's Vogue, Cosmopolitan & Elle magazines, among others, she would cut out & collect her favorite images to create her own fashion magazines. Her favorite childhood toys included her Barbie dolls & her fashion plates, of course, which inspired her to illustrate her own fashion catalogs.
Although she had a true love for fashion, Cristina was unsure of which route she wanted to take in the fashion industry. After some college courses in fashion & business, she surprisingly opted to pursue an education in law enforcement & obtained a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Administration. While interesting & challenging, she found that this career path did not fulfill her true desires.
After many years of job hopping & soul searching, Cristina finally decided to answer her calling & follow her passion in fulfilling her dreams in the world of fashion, creating unique designs for women inspired by everything from historical vintage to nature to personal experiences & the beautiful California climates. Cristina was briefly enrolled in the Academy of Art University's Fashion Product Development program in pursuit of her MFA, but ultimately decided to put all of her focus & energy on further developing the self-taught skills that had brought her this far. "I can't focus on how long it took me to get here or why.....the important thing is that I'm here now, & as long as you're alive, it's never too late to pursue your dreams. Everyone's path in life is different so if you truly want something, just go for it....but when you're ready & on your own timeline."
