A Little More About Me.....
Hello...I hope you all are doing great! I just want to take a quick moment share with you a little more of my back story. As someone who has no extensive fashion education or professional industry experience, the start of my own clothing line & online store was a huge step for me. Whether early on or later in life, we all gotta start somewhere. As mentioned on my About page, my interest & love for fashion began at a very young age. I got my first job while in high school working a seasonal sales position at a men's clothing store. I did take a couple of sewing classes in college & while my love for fashion continued on, it pretty much stopped there. To be honest, I had no focus, direction or hustle in me whatsoever (I totally hate admitting this, but it's the truth). I also relied a lot on the support of others to pursue a career in fashion. I had plenty of self doubt. Yes, of course my parents loved me & supported me in general, but looking back, job security, benefits, a retirement plan, etc--all those things that come with a typical 9-5 job--were of more importance, or at least this is what was instilled in me. In other words, I was not much of a risk taker. My genuine passions & interests were overlooked because of my lack of focus. Ugh, I feel like I'm beating myself up right now, but I know someone out there can relate.
The reason I am sharing this tidbit of information is because I want to encourage others, of all ages, who have any doubt & uncertainty or don't really have anyone in their corner rooting for them or supporting their dreams, to be driven & to continue on a path that their heart leads them on. You WILL find your way!!! xoxo Cristina
PS - I actually composed this post long before the pandemic...just FYI
Who Are You?
For both the wild at heart & the young at heart...for those who like to fantasize as well as the dreamers...& most of all, the fighters & the believers. If one were to ask me what my brand represents, this is what I would tell them. This is the best way for me to describe it right now. This is who I am & my designs are a way for me to express this. A common question a lot of designers get asked is "What is your design aesthetic?". While I do understand the importance of reaching a "target market", I don't particularly want to be put in a box. So in addition to the aforementioned, chameleon would be another fitting word to characterize my brand, if it absolutely needs to be.
Inspiration is all around me all the time. It's difficult for me to place a single label on my brand, as the design ideas are endless for me. Since it's still pretty early, as I am only working on my 2nd collection, I guess for you, this remains to be seen. And yes, I realize everyone will have their personal opinions & visions about what wild & young at heart is, what fantasies & dreams are & what it means to be a fighter & a believer, however, this is MY vision. Some will get it & others won't & that is fine. People like what they like, plain & simple. It will all unfold in due time...all I can ask you to do is stick around for a while because there is so much more from me to come! Happy Friday people!!! xoxo
Hi-Lo!
Hi, Hello! The moment that seemingly took ages to arrive is finally here: my first web site launch featuring my very own (& first) women's clothing line! I cannot express how excited I am to share this journey with you. I've put in endless hours, long nights & early mornings in the development & production of my clothing line & web site. As many new business owners can relate, it takes a lot of blood (literally, in my case from pricking my fingers w/ pins & needles), sweat & tears to go into business for yourself. And as with any new venture, there are often bumps in the road & setbacks which can be discouraging at times. But whether minor or major, it's important to not stop & to keep pushing forward. You may not have all the answers right away but when you're driven, have a plan in place & you stay focused on your goals, there's not really much that can stop you.In any case I hope I can serve as inspiration to anyone on a journey to making their dreams come true, or even just going through a difficult time. I've had my moments of uncertainty but the main thing I continued to do was follow my heart. Through all of my life's experiences, positive & negative, this is what ultimately brought me to where I am today. So never stop going after what it is that your heart truly desires...this is just the beginning of a new journey for me.
